Aqua looked as the ice block rolled back and forth. "I should really but a bind spell on that thing."

She raised her hand to cast a spell, but lowered her hand again. She was too exhausted. "I have to get something to eat, anyone have anything i can eat?"

      Mima's Antique Store

"You've already met one, Mrs. Kazami over there." Mima said.

Sometimes when you're driving down a road, a bug hits your windshield. It's ugly and unpleasant, but you just activate the wipers / cleaning fluid and it's gone in a few seconds. It's just part of driving down the road. You don't dwell on it, because that'd be silly. Bugs aren't worth the time.

You just discard their guts and keep on driving.

        (So she is one...)

John turned his head over to Yuuka's direction and asked,"Hey Yuuka, what exactly is a Youkai?"

Yuuka has been reading for 40 minutes, but no book about the Hakurei Border or Gensokyo was written. This was mostly historical context of the ancient Japan during the Asuka period.
"What am I even doing here?" Yuuka asked herself as she stepped outside to find the same average-looking man in combat with Renamon and an unknown blue-haired girl. John was stuck in an ice block, and Mima was standing around.
Wha... Yuuka asked, but she had no time to think, she was going to help them out.

"Confirmed hit." the Demolisher's AI reported back.

The red dot started flickering and had flown back from the explosion several meters before vanishing over a nearby river. This could mean one of two things: the little girl had been destroyed mid flight, or she landed in the water, where the radar could not detect her. To the discontent of the Commander, the later was the most likely situation, and if she could fly as fast as a jet, then she would have probably gotten away by now. (It's never the easy way, isn't it?) he thought. He then started to move towards ground zero of the shelling.

As he got closer and closer he saw more and more soldiers running around, sometimes stopping to stare at the titan of a mech that walked before them. His troops caught up with him and followed immediately behind him like ducklings. After walking for a full kilometer the Commander arrived at where the shell hit. the crater was probably 4 meters wide and about half a meter deep. (It didn't even hit the ground and it caused this much destruction?) he questioned. Obviously this "Demolisher" tank that he just created was unnecessarily powerful. Or, maybe he was too used to fighting other armies the same strength as his was. Either way he had to redesign his troop's weapons to fit this more fragile world.

He took a look around to see if there was any sign of the girl. All he saw was a bunch of soldiers staring at him in disbelief, and off the side of the crater on the side of a shop...
"Dammit..." the Commander said under his breath.

The white dot, the character who had been fighting the girl was lying on a table, being treated for first degree plasma burns. It was obvious that the girl didn't do that to her, so the only reason she would be like this is because she didn't move out of the way in time. Out of all the complications that could have happened during his plan, this was the last thing the Commander wanted to happen. He had to act quickly. Plasma burns from energy weaponry was different from regular plasma, the condensing process creates a lot of radiation, and if not treated properly then the patient could be at risk of radiation poisoning.

The Commander opened the hatch to his command mech, located on its head, took the nanolith medical kit from behind his command chair, and ran out to aid the injured character. The drop from the head of the mech to the ground was about 6.7 meters, but to the surprise of the soldiers watching (as if the mech itself wasn't enough of a surprise) he had made the jump down without any effort, then continued to run towards the injured.

He ran towards the medic struggling to treat the odd symptoms that the woman was experiencing and pushed him aside. "Out of the way!" he shouted. He readied the nanolith medkit and activated it . "What are you doing?!?" the medic asked furiously. "Fixing a mistake." the commander replied. The two of them watched as glowing green dust spewed out of the device and flowed around the woman like water. After 10 seconds the dust stoped glowing and reentered the device. She was perfectly healthy. Asleep, but healthy. The Commander released a sigh of relief. That was one unnecessary casualty prevented.

(Now...) he pondered. (Where did that little demon go?)

His commander turns to the blue Reploid "X we got some Intel from our men that there might be a possible terrorist attack in Tokyo. Could you and Alpha Team go and check things out?" Asked X's Commander. X looks at his Commander, and salutes. "Y-Yes sir!" Said X as he leaves the room. He quickly makes it to Alpha team's location where they are getting prepared for the mission. The leader of Alpha Team sees X as he makes it outside "Ah X. Didn't expect to see you here. So what are you up to currently?" Asked Alpha Team's leader. X smiles lightly as he sees that Alpha team is almost ready. "I was assigned to go with you guys in case of any problems. So are you almost ready loading up?" Asked X. "Yes. We are almost finished getting prepared. Our plan is to lay low, and hope that we can find out if the rumors are true. We don't want any deaths on our hands." Said Alpha Team's leader.

"Hey, Yuuka, what exactly is a Youkai?"
Yuuka froze. How did he know? More importantly, will the Hakurei border hold, now that the knowledge of Youkai has been exposed to the outside world?
This is bad, Yuuka thought. If I reveal the truth about Youkai, the Hakurei border will crumble... and all Youkai inside the border will be eradicated... I'll have to play smart.
"I don't know what you are talking about." Yuuka smiled at John, trying to portray her tenderness and "I will rip your throat and feed it to the sharks if you mention about it any further" at the same time.

Yuuka gave John a threatening yet sweet glance. This glare would have scared most people, but John was not like most people. He has seen much scarier than this girl's scary face.
John was starting to lose his patience, he was not okay with secrets. For all he knew, it could jeprodize the mission.
Instead of being aggressive about it, he decided to take a smoother approach.

"Surely you must know, being a powerful Sorceress, and because of the look you're giving me.
Besides, if you don't tell me, I can just as easily look it up. I'm giving you a chance to come clean.
It wouldn't matter if you were one or not, just as long as you don't do anything bad."

"Besides, Mima already said you were one, so there's no point in lying."

I want to try and protect people, and joining the military was the only thing I could think of that would allow me to help people all across the globe. Though am I truly suited for this kind of job? Thought X as the alpha team member Jacob walks up to X. "Hey X we're ready to go when you are." Said Jacob as he walks back to the truck. X looks as Jacob hops onto the back of the truck "Okay. Mima, once I get my hands on you, I will twin spark you to hours on end. Yuuka thought. Well, there's no other way now. I hope Yukari and Reimu will take care of whatever happens in Gensokyo.

"Alright, fine. The fact that I am a sorceress was, in fact, a lie. Youkai is a term that is used to describe Japanese folk creatures, ghosts, supernatural beings, and legendary figures. I am a flower-loving Youkai, as you already know from my abilities. Mima is a spirit, so technically she is a Youkai too."

"The reason that I hid my identity as Youkai is because of this. Gensokyo, the world Mima and I come from, exists because the outside world believes that Youkais aren't existing, but they are only in folklore. The mere fact that anyone in the outside world knows about the existence of Youkai means the end of Gensokyo and anyone who's in it. As we are speaking, the Hakurei border that separates Gensokyo and the outside world must be crumbling. It is only a matter of time that everyone inside Gensokyo, human and Youkai, will perish."

"This above situation, however, is only a hypothesis that has been developed by the true Sorceress of the Gensokyo. If it is the case, however, I hope you will take responsibilities for the lives of many good human and Youkai."

Front of Recette's Armory - Manhattan - United States

Snake looked the girl that was perched on a stool in front of him. Though he had no immediate objections to the girl that was his hostess coming along, he did have slight worries of her physical body. Snake had been born and raised on the battlefield. Adrenaline was as common as sweat and physical fatigue was as regular as a sleep cycle. Even if shit hit the fan, Snake would be able to handle the situation well physically. The girl? There was no way for Snake to tell.

Letting a small smile through, Snake wondered what he was so worried about. With the syndicate's district being in such a heavily crowded place or at least near one, there was a small chance that they would dare do anything wreckless like start a firefight in the open. Besides, what was there to even worry about? Snake was handling the mission himself with no restraints. He knew how to do his job and he was damn good at it. As long as he hit the enemy before they could react, Recette was in no danger.

*** "Alright. I'll take you along." Snake finally answered, letting his smile grow slightly in size.

Snake just hoped that the situation wouldn't turn for the worst like it had when he had provided sniper cover for Raiden as he had escorted Emma at the plant. Snake shook the thoughts from his head. This was his mission and he was the one handling it personally. Not a green kid who'd only had VR training his entire life. Snake knew what he was doing. Double checking his equipment, Snake tightened his buttonable jogging pants and windbreaker. At least if shit hit the fan, he could shed the extra layer of clothing above his sneaking suit quickly. Snake walked towards the front door and turned around, motioning for Recette to follow.

Somewhere within the Sewerage System - Melun - France

Remilia muffled a cry as she applied antibiotics to her arms.

Not having the energy to regenerate as she normally would have, and to conserve what energy she had left, Remilia had been forced to tend to most of her wounds with backward methods such as disinfectants and bandages. Upon having entered through the stone water duct, Remilia had swum through it until she had surfaced underneath the drainhole of a sewerage system. Wet, cold, and hurt, Remilia had taken a short rest there before exploring. During her exploration, she had come across what had seemed to be some sort of mechanical room where more of the human metal inventions groaned, rumbled, and chugged away at whatever they did. In that room had been a set of medical supplies mounted on the walls. Though she wasn't the most adept at using them, she had remebered watching Eirin and Sakuya use them on occasion for various weaker youkai like the fairy maids or on the humans, who had no regenerative power.

Currently, Remilia sat against the wall in that mechanical room. The nice thing about it was that the metal machines that sat in front of her seemed to generate heat as they worked, warming the room up. Though she was still badly injured and exhausted, at least the heat worked its magic at reviving her. Having finished applying the antibiotics, she wrapped her arms with gauze and slumped against the walls.

Why was this happening to her? What had happened? It was not only a day ago that Remilia had stood unchallenged, terrorizing the weak humans. Suddenly, the tables had seemed to have flipped as she was beaten out of the sky and badly injured. Remilia took a look into the remainder of the medical box. The box seemed to only contain basic supplies and as such, she had just finished using the last bits of antibiotics. Some gauze was left, but she didn't see much use in using it. Sighing, she looked down at herself. What a mess. Her dress was in tatters and some parts had simply been burnt off. Her arms and legs were all wrapped at some point along the limbs. She had a bandage applied to her cheek where one of the humans' small danmaku rifles had shot her earlier, but had not managed to heal completely. Though Remilia was used to the scent and taste of blood, this was the first time in a while that both came from her and not a victim.

Sighing once more, Remilia mustered her strength to push herself off the ground and stand. Since having the Gungnir disintegrate, she had not managed to regain enough energy to summon another one and so currently relied on her danmaku and physical strength. Humans were still no chance against her, but perhaps if she had to face one of their jets, metal boxes or another Character, she wasn't sure how she would fare. Walking out of the warm and comfortable room that she had spent the past half hour in, Remilia looked around. The sewer was non-descript. Small bulbs of light hung from the ceiling at regular intervals along the extent of the sewer, but the light was so weak that the sewer for the most part was black anyway. Looking left and right, Remilia estimated that if she headed left, she would head back into the city whereas heading right would take her underneat the river and farther north of the city. A small fire lit up in Remilia's eye as she turned her head towards the left. Though she may have been weakened, she was still the Scarlet Devil. She couldn't back down from a challenge this easily.

Thinking of it as a challenge, Remilia started down the sewerage. Aside from the sound of the running water, the only other sound was the regularly spaced intervals that was her footsteps. Tap. Tap. Tap. The area was strangely serene in a way. Remilia knew that there were those above ground that wanted her dead and that there lay carnage everywhere in the city, but the sewer system had remained untouched, as if nothing above ground could bother it. Remilia continued walking.
After several minutes of walking in one direction and taking an occasional turn, always trying to readjust at times to head south, Remilia started to hear a low rumble from above her. It was extremely faint and no human would have ever heard it, surely. However due to her hypersensitive senses, Remilia knew that there was some large metal box or a similar device somewhere in the area above her. She couldn't tell exactly how far underground the part of the sewerage system was, but she figured that there must be a level above her. After all, she had entered this system through a duct at the bottom of the Seine river, almost a dozen yards underground. Switching her focus, Remilia started looking for a way to ascend levels. After another several minutes, Remilia finally found what she was looking for. A ladder with rusting rungs was attached to the wall and the sound of running water came from above. Grabbing hold of the old ladder, Remilia climbed. Upon reaching the next level, she noticed the rumbling intensify greatly. In fact, as she set her foot down on the concrete walkway, it seemed like the rumbling was getting louder in sound... As the sound grew more audible, Remilia realized that this was the sound of multiple objects moving somewhere above her. It was also not just the average rumbling... What was that? She thought she could hear a loud stamping stand, almost like a large robot were walking above...

It suddenly hit her. Whatever had fired at her earlier must have originated from some sort of super metal box or a device similar. Though the sound nearing her now obviously betrayed that there were three origins of the rumbling and one large bipedular robot or the like. Unless humans had also created walking robots at this point, Remilia was sure that this was the work of a Character. More than likely, it was the Character that had shot her out of the sky with some form of an energy round. Rage built within Remilia. She felt the anger empowering her. In no way was this a true effect. She knew it was simply her mind getting worked up and going into overdrive, but she knew that she could use this moment to squeeze every bit of energy out of her body. Remilia now ran to find the exact origin of the sound and tried to get directly underneath it. After another several minutes, Remilia was sure that there were two sources of the rumbling directly above her head. She became even more enraged at the thought of the things that had caused so much damage to her being so close.

Yet, Remilia let off a smile. They didn't have the faintest clue that she was there. Now grinning wildly, Remilia amassed what energy she could. Moving directly underneath the rumbling, Remilia shouted,

                          *** "Scarlet Devil "Scarlet Devil"!!

The ground around her started to crack as her own form of pure energy and willpower materialized. The area around her became red and a haze formed. Suddenly, a giant red cross appeared above her, piercing the roof and road above her, catching two of the ARM's modified tanks in it. Not finished, a whirlpool of red energy formed around her as it started slow, but accelerated to deafening speeds and sound as it lifted the tanks and strew them hundreds of yards away like a child might do with a toy.

Remilia started laughing wildly. At the same time, she wondered what she had just gotten herself into.

                          Melun Centre - France

The spy continued going around, asking soldiers and any straggling civilians if they had seen the devil anywhere. Though he didn't have the faintest clue on where she was, he knew that she was close. He could feel it. He pulled out his butterfly knife and started twirling it around to make himself calm down. She had to be near. He just knew it.

As if on cue, the moment he thought that, he heard a loud explosion not far off. Looking up into the sky, the Spy was horrified to see a huge red cross appear in the middle of the day with a red whirlpool of magical energy form around it, sending two objects he couldn't quite make out flying across the sky.

The spy started running towards the cross.

John's heart skipped a beat. (Wait...I could be responsible...for the deaths of countless innocent civilians?...)

There were a great many things that John was mentally conditioned for. He's seen good people die, but not by his hand. His head started to spin.

(Did I just inadvertently pull the trigger on their destruction?)

John stood silent for a moment, unmoving, not even by a little bit. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity for him, he spoke.

"Then I suppose there's only one way to find out, we have to call that friend of yours, Yukari."

He needed to sit down. There was too much for him. Had he really killed a whole country full of people, just by asking a question?
He leaned up against the counter, making it creak.

As the Spy neared the area where the cross appeared, only carnage awaited him. The destruction that lied before was mind-blowing. The easiest way to describe it was a miniature atomic bomb. The area nearby the cross was completely annihilated and the surrounding area was completely blown away by a shock wave. Entire buildings and trees were lifted from their spots and fallen on their sides. The Spy climbed through the debris of the buildings and neared the clearing that was created. As he got closer, he could hear a faint, maniacal laughter emanating from the center of the destruction. The Spy used his invis watch to become hidden and quietly approached the center.

In the center, there is a giant gaping hole created by the destructive cross that leads to the sewers. At the bottom of the whole, the Spy finds the vampire little girl, head thrown back in a crazed laughter. The spy silently jumps down into the hole. He takes out his trust butterfly knife, spinning it open, as he walks behind the girl. Still a couple paces behind, the Spy raises the knife, ready for the backstab, and deactivates his watch. As he slowly decloaks, the watch makes its signature quiet, discrete sound.

Eventually the truck makes it to the airport on Okinawa Island where a helicopter is waiting for the Alpha Team, and X. As Alpha team and X get off the truck they begin to load up their gear for the trip to Tokyo. As the leader of Alpha Team gets out of the truck he walks up to X. "X go in the helicopter it will take you drop you off in Tokyo. Once you get there lay low like we said, and if you get any more information call us and we will come in and take care of it." Said Alpha Team's leader. X nods his head in agreement to the plan. "Yes sir. What about you though?" Asked X in a curious tone. "We will catch up with you when we can." Said Alpha Team Leader. X quickly turns to the Helicopter and hops in. X takes a seat in the Helicopters cargo, and waits for take off. After a few minutes of the Helicopter's engine revving up the helicopter takes off into the air, and begins heading to Tokyo.
