Sometimes when you're driving down a road, a bug hits your windshield. It's ugly and unpleasant, but you just activate the wipers / cleaning fluid and it's gone in a few seconds. It's just part of driving down the road. You don't dwell on it, because that'd be silly. Bugs aren't worth the time.
You just discard their guts and keep on driving.

@Kristia
Doing good, just posting in the RPs and making apps for Shinka Knights.
I'm going to make both an Infecta and a Tengu. I'm just trying to get the details put together right now, like how the armor works, what it's made out of, and what each part does.
Would you like to see?
You could provide feedback if you want. I've already gone over one of the aspects of the armor, but I'm also trying to figure out what type of material the armor plating should be made out of.Originally posted by S121Every time I see a new post on the Forum, I feel like a little kid during Christmas, all giddy.sigpic

@Kristia
Ok. It's not done, but I'm slowly coming up with how each part will work. I tried to stay within the bounds of reality, so if I messed up anywhere, please tell me.
First layer is a body heat generator/Piezoelectric film that turns body heat and even the smallest movement into electrical energy. This allows the suit's tiny Graphene batteries to charge. (Might add solar cells to shoulders of armor.)
Second layer is a thin sheet of nanofiber used not only for minor protection, but also to prevent the piezoelectric film and nanomuscle from touching.
Third layer is nano-muscle (possibly 750x stronger than human muscle. due to the layer of muscle being thin, it might only give a 2x boost in strength and speed) that works by applying an electric current through the material, causing it to contract. It's highly resistant to blunt-force trauma, which keeps the wearer safe. It's pretty tough, due to it having a very high tensile strength.Spoiler:The reverse piezoelectric muscle will have four layers. The core will be the nanomuscle itself, the inner layer will be a 1 atom thick sheet of electrical insulation, the middle layer will be a thin, flexible piezoelectric film, and the outer layer will be another 1 atom thick layer of electrical insulation, to prevent the piezoelectric layers from touching each other. Each nano-muscle fiber will be coated in these layers. When the nanomuscles contract, it will distort/deform the piezoelectric film, which will generate an electric current. This will reduce the amount of power drained from the Graphene batteries, if not allow the artificial muscles to help in powering the suit and charging the batteries.
Fourth layer is an advanced super-hydrophobic Aerogel that can also withstand electricity. This is mainly used to mask heat signatures and add extra electric/heat protection to the user.
Spoiler:Aerogel is a very powerful heat insulator because it prevents convection, conduction, and radiation heat transferal. It is capable of surviving temperatures of 2,192*F (1200*C) before melting.
Fifth layer is pending...
(Possible outer layer)
Liquid armor layer that instantaneously hardens when struck, preventing blunt-force trauma/damage from concussive blasts, and protects from stabbing, slashing, bullets (not all bullets), and possibly explosions. The top-most layer of the suit might be a type of nanomaterial that is highly resistant to damage, yet flexible. Think Graphene, maybe a Titanium alloy nanocomposite bodysuit.Last edited by S121; 04-14-2014, 01:54 PM.Originally posted by S121Every time I see a new post on the Forum, I feel like a little kid during Christmas, all giddy.sigpic

@Kristia
The only problem I'm having is the plating. I asked the others in Mumble about the metal that should be used for the armor plating, but so far, Titanium seems to be the best. Either that, or Kevlar, but Kevlar is not all that great. Kevlar is only good for stopping bullets, but it's not good at stopping knives. Not only that, but unlike Kevlar, Titanium is heat, electrical, corrosive, and cold resistant, all while being tough, yet lightweight. I was thinking of trying to find a tougher metal than titanium, but it seems like titanium has it all. It matches all the criteria of a good metal for armor. I was thinking that there had to be a better metal out there, but so far, it's just that.
The reason I'm having such a hard time with the metal plating is because I'm also trying to come up with possible upgrades for later. I was trying to find a material that was better than titanium, but so far, no such luck. Not unless I use the liquid armor as the first upgrade, then move on to titanium, then biometals, such as self-healing, adaptable metals. After all, if you could somehow create a titanium alloy biomaterial, then you would have a metal that would be able to heal itself, would be able to adapt to the elements, and could even perform advanced functions similar to those of bacteria or living cells.
What do you think? does that seem like a good upgrade progression?Originally posted by S121Every time I see a new post on the Forum, I feel like a little kid during Christmas, all giddy.sigpic

@Kristia
I'll give it some thought, maybe add a multi-layered armor system consisting of both fibers (think spider silk) and metals. Hopefully I figure it out before I fall asleep.

(Upgrades for Tewi's RP, Shinka Knights.)
Armor Upgrades
Spoiler:
Targeting System Upgrades
Spoiler:
Advanced Targeting system - When there are enemies hiding, the advanced targeting system will sync up with the suit's radar and visor, showing enemies that are hiding behind walls and objects with a contrasting silhouette in the HUD. This is particularly useful when fighting in an urban or wilderness setting. (Requires Radar Vision, X-Ray Vision, or "Oracle Vision".)
Upper Body Precision Controller - When activated, the helmet's microcomputer syncs up with the armor's nanomuscle and controls the artificial muscle to more accurately aim at a far away target. This function removes all gun sway, making this upgrade particularly useful when sniping at long ranges, or shooting at fast moving targets.
Radar and Surveillance System Upgrades
Spoiler:
Radar Upgrades
Spoiler:
Radar Range Upgrades
Spoiler:
50 Meters - Increases the radar's range to 164 feet.
100 Meters - Increases the radar's range to 328 feet. (Requires 50 Meters.)
150 Meters - Increases the radar's range to 492 feet. (Requires 100 Meters.)
Long Range Scanners - With the Long Range Scanners, the armor's radar system can scan for entities and objects that are further than 150 meters away. Even though the armor can scan further distances now, it is not recommended that you leave the Long Range Scanners active for long amounts of time, due to the amount of power it requires. If left on for extended periods of time, it can drain the graphene batteries within the suit. (Requires 150 Meters.)
300 Meters - Increases the radar's range to 984 feet. (Requires Long Range Scanners.)
550 Meters - Increases the radar's range to 1804 feet (.34 miles). (Requires 300 Meters.)
800 Meters - Increases the radar's range to 2624 feet (.5 miles). (Requires 550 Meters.)
Radar Addons
Spoiler:
Radar Precision Upgrade - With the Radar Precision Upgrade, the suit's radar can now scan for enemies and allies, and provide feedback on the targets' sizes by changing the size of the dots on the radar.
Topographical Rendering Radar - With the Topographical Rendering Radar, the user can now see topographical information on the area around them, allowing the user to see his/her elevation and the elevation of the terrain around them.
Terrain Rendering Radar - The Terrain Rendering Radar upgrade builds upon the technology of the Topographical Rendering Radar, and allows the user to see the terrain of the area around them with great detail, as if they were looking at a satellite image, giving the user tactical information of their surroundings. (Requires Topographical Rendering Radar.)
Surveillance System Upgrades
Spoiler:
Environmental Scanning System - With the Environmental Scanning System, the armor can now scan the area around the armor and provide feedback via the suit's HUD. The user can view the temperature, air composition, radiation levels, humidity, atmospheric pressure, the material composition of various objects, and gives the user feedback on whether or not there are hazardous materials or elements in the area.
Visor Upgrades
Spoiler:
Radar Vision - This visor module has been modified to sync up with the suit's radar. When the radar sends out a radio wave pulse, the visor will allow the user to see the electromagnetic pulse and the various objects the radio wave bounces off of.
Wave Vision - This visor module has been modified to synch up with the suit's radar and environmental scanning systems, allowing the user to see electromagnetic waves. This visor module can be set to different strengths, allowing the user to see radiation, or even see the energy flowing through wires in walls, or even the energy being emitted from power crystals. (Requires Radar vision, X-Ray Vision, and the Environmental Scanning System.)
Sonic Vision - Sonic Vision allows the user to use sound as sight. When sound waves bounce off an object or person, the visor registers that sound as an image, allowing the user to see.
X-Ray Vision - This visor module allows the user to see through objects by emitting X-rays. When used, the user will be able to see through walls and other solid objects. The visor's strength can be set to allow the user to see through paper-thin materials, or even through sheets of armor. This is particularly useful when looking into machines. The user will be able to adjust the visor and see into machines and walls at various depths.
"Oracle Vision" - "Oracle Vision" allows the user to see energy of all kinds, allowing the user to see through walls and target enemies from inside another room or building. This visor module has been focused to only track friendly units and hostile targets, but it can also be focused to track the energy running through power cables, or even see the total amount of energy in a given area. (Requires Wave Vision.)

Regenerating Carbon Dioxide Scrubber - This is the pinnacle of CDS technology. Instead of relying on a Carbon Dioxide Scrubber that has a limited lifespan and throwing them away when they are used up, the user now never has to worry about their condition. With this upgrade, the suit's nanomachines will remove the Carbon from the Carbon Dioxide Scrubber as the user breathes, preventing Carbon from building up within the Scrubber and allowing it to be used indefinitely. (Requires Mobile Nanomachines.)
Communicator Upgrades
Spoiler:
Advanced Communication Interception - The suit's microcomupter can now intercept and decrypt advanced enemy communications, allowing the user to listen to the enemy's COM chatter and create plans based on what he/she hears.

Neural Uplink - Unlike the old Neural Interface that connects to the user via wirelessly reading brainwaves from a sensor, this one connects directly to the user's brain, allowing them more control over the suit. The advantages this has over the old neural interface is its ability to allow increases in the reaction time of both the user and the armor. (Requires Wireless Neural Interface unless upgrade is found.)
AI Capable Neural Interface - The Neural Uplink interface has been modified to house an AI via a data chip. When the AI is inserted into the armor's systems, it provides many benefits to the user. The AI is able to provide tactical information to the user, perform more complex functions with the armor, more efficiently and effectively hack systems, and exponentially boost the user and armor's reaction time. (Requires Neural Uplink.)
Override Control - The armor is a highly advanced piece of machinery, but even with it's ability to resist hacking attempts, it can still be breached and controlled by viruses and AIs. This upgrade allows the user to fully control his/her armor, and even fight back against the digital invaders with his/her own mind.

Outer Heat protection
Spoiler:
Ablative coating - Ablative coating is a thin sheet of transparent material that works by slowly chipping and peeling away as it's exposed to incredibly high temperatures, taking the heat with it as it peels, and is used primarily for the reentry of space craft. Standard ablative coating can survive temperatures of around 3,000*F (1648.88*C), while others have a higher heat tolerance before chipping away, and some even last longer. Not only does it protect against heat, it also protects the inner layers of the armor from being affected by external heat. The outside could be as hot as a space shuttle during reentry, but the suit's internal temperature would be at room temperature.
Standard
Spoiler:Used primarily for the heat shielding of old-world spacecraft, this ablative coating is a somewhat old, yet effective technology. It is capable of surviving temperatures of up to 3,000*F (1648.88*C) before chipping and peeling away.
Apollo
Spoiler:The Apollo ablative coating is more heat resistant than its predecessor. Unlikethe old ablative coating, Apollo ablative coating can survive temperatures of up to 5,000*F (2760*C) before chipping and peeling away.
Apollo-X
Spoiler:The Apollo-X ablative coating is much tougher than it's predecessor and is capable of surviving temperatures of up to 10,000*F (5537.77*C) before chipping and peeling away. Unlike the other ablative coatings, Apollo-X chips off in smaller chunks and cools faster than its predecessors, allowing it to last longer against damage.
Laser-Refractive Coating Mixture (Addon)
Spoiler:In addition to the ablative coatings, if mixed with a certain compound, they can gain the ability to refract laser blasts and other light-based attacks.
Basic Refractive Coating Mixture
Spoiler:This basic refractive coating mixture is capable of deflecting weaker laser weaponry and light-based attacks, like laser pistols, but anything with sufficient power can damage the coating.
Advanced Refractive Coating Mixture
Spoiler:The advanced refractive coating mixture is capable of deflecting standard laser weaponry and other light-based attacks. It can protect against laser rifles and the like, but it is not the best defense against laser and light-based attacks.
Superior Refractive Coating Mixture
Spoiler:The superior refractive coating mixture is capable of deflecting a large array of laser and light-based attacks. Laser Cannons and the like can not damage the coating, and even the laser cannons on tanks have a hard time piercing through. It's not guaranteed to protect you from all laser and light-based weaponry, but it's close enough.
